I don't qualify for Medicare and Medicaid so I have Medicare and an advantage plan.. Advantage plans are different for each section, in Texas it goes by county. I couldn't get any help with my DMT. Even with a copay it was too high. I got mine through the patient assistance program and it cost me nothing. I;m not sure if your medication has a patient assistance program but you could check.

The best insurance coverage for MS often combines both Medicare and Medicaid if you qualify for both. Medicare provides basic coverage through Parts A and B, which cover hospital stays, doctor visits, medical equipment, and outpatient care. If you're over 65 or receive Social Security disability benefits, you'll qualify for Medicare.

Medicaid can provide additional coverage with lower out-of-pocket costs, including lower premiums, copays, and deductibles. Since Medicaid is state-operated, benefits vary depending on where you live. Regarding Medicare Advantage (Part C), these are private insurance plans that offer an alternative to Original Medicare. While they may provide additional benefits, it's crucial to carefully review any Medicare Advantage plan's formulary (list of covered drugs) and ensure your MS medications are included. You'll also want to check that your preferred healthcare providers and specialists are in-network.

For MS specifically, you'll likely want to ensure you have prescription drug coverage through Medicare Part D to help cover the cost of MS medications. You can compare drug plans through the Medicare Plan Finder to find one that best covers your specific medications.
