I have a cane, walker, and rollator. Depending on what I have to do, I use what is needed for my safety. It is not worth risking a fall or any injury that I could have prevented.
The decision will be an easy one when the time is right.
I walk unaided but I have a hiking stick, activators poles and a wheelchair when my legs are unsteady. Everyday I use a stick at least once just for support as I walk faster with it. I live on a farm where the ground surface is uneven in places! I walk in the house in my stocking feet without any need for support. I have used the wheelchair in airports where there are long walks and queues. The wheelchair was a blessing, I skipped queues and had my own seat when waiting. It made travelling stress free. A wheelchair is a must for airports in order to preserve your bank of energy. My thoughts are don’t make a big deal of it mentally, a wheelchair is a device to more freedom. You become almost invisible in a wheelchair so it’s great for looking at everything.
Just a battle always walking with my walker as much as possible. I have an electric wheelchair and scooter but trying not to rely on them cause I know sooner or later I’ll have to use them perminately.

When I surrendered my licence, I knew that it was the right time. I was a danger to myself and more importantly others if I continued to drive. I miss it heaps.
But we've got grandchildren......
I use a walker around our village, and a little travelscoot for longer adventures. Shopping and suchlike. I can put it into the back of our SUV unassisted. I can get around (mostly) unsupported in our apartment.
A wheelchair? If I take a bite from the apple of reality, it's inevitable I suppose. I don't dwell on it. I'm doing what I can to hold it off. I recognise and work around my limitations
