Both mental and physical fatigue in MS can be equally debilitating, as they're interconnected and affect different aspects of daily life. Physical fatigue can make simple tasks like walking or standing extremely challenging, with some people needing to crawl or sit on the floor between activities. Mental fatigue can cause cognitive difficulties where your brain simply stops working effectively.
As one MyMSTeam member described it, it feels like "taking three sleeping pills and still trying to function normally." This type of fatigue doesn't improve with typical remedies like napping or drinking coffee. The best approach is to manage both types of fatigue through energy conservation techniques. This includes scheduling important tasks during your peak energy times, breaking activities into smaller manageable chunks, and keeping a fatigue journal to identify your personal patterns and triggers. Remember that MS fatigue isn't laziness - it's a real symptom that requires proper management and understanding.

For me it's mental. With physical fatigue, I can at least lay down but I can't do much for mental fatigue.
