I do and always have. I combat loneliness through work and a close group of friends.

Do others with MS live alone?

Yes, many people with MS live alone, and it's a common experience shared by members of the community. Living alone with MS can bring unique challenges, including feelings of isolation and the need to manage daily tasks independently.

Combating loneliness and isolation

Social isolation is a significant concern for people with MS, especially when physical limitations or fatigue make it harder to stay connected. Here are some strategies that can help:

* Seek and accept social support from friends, family, or support groups
* Stay connected through online communities where you can share experiences with others who understand
* Practice gratitude daily to help maintain a positive outlook
* Find ways to help others, as altruism can shift focus away from pain and fatigue
* Adapt activities to fit your current abilities rather than avoiding them entirely

The importance of connection

Having people who hold you accountable and whom you can hold accountable makes a real difference. Even when living alone, maintaining meaningful relationships through phone calls, video chats, or online support groups can improve quality of life and reduce feelings of isolation.

If you're struggling with loneliness or depression, talk to your doctor about support options and potential treatments.

It’s not easy alone, financially or when you have no one to take out the trash, or help you up should you fall.

Yes i live alone it does bite no one to talk to or helping with stuff. It just makes you think things through for the better. This web site and TV is the only thing that keeps me shan. It makes you not want to be bothered by anyone or any kind of changes in your life. It is so mind challenging at times

Yes, I have lived alone for the past 10+ years. It is very lonely, but I get out of the house as much as I can
