PML is caused when a person who is positive for the JC virus antibodies ,attack . Usually the virus remains dormant like EBV or many other viruses. when they cross the brain barrier,they attack the brain. It happens when a person becomes so immunocompromised the body can’t fight infection etc.. About 85 percent of people have this virus . The main dmt this is a concern for is Tysabri. Almost all DMT’s have this risk except a few. Your doctor will monitor your bloodwork, if your JC antibodies go up or you catch the virus your doctor will know what to do .

I’ve been on Ocrevis for several years, before that I was on Tysabri. I’ve never had any problems with Ocrevis. My only problem now is I’m in a nursing facility in Chicago and I haven’t gotten a neurologist yet so I’ve been off the medication for about five months. But hopefully I’ll be back on it soon. Aniu, side effects can happen during or after the infusion, I usually wait a few days and look/check myself for any differences, odd feelings, etc.

First dose is 1/2 dose, 2nd is half. The next infusion 6 months out is full dose. Let your Neurologist know about all your allergies, if you have problems call the infusion nurse, they come fast. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Wears off by 6th month. Take the Benadryl just in case, helps you sleep.
