Members connected over the challenging question of managing hip pain, muscle tightness, and nerve-related symptoms in MS, sharing personal strategies that have brought some relief. Several members recommended gentle stretching with long holds, stopping just at the point of mild discomfort, along with foam roller massage to soften tight or spastic muscles, noting that both take a few days to show results. A recurring theme was the value of working with physical and occupational therapists, and members also mentioned medications like Celebrex and baclofen as options worth discussing with a doctor.

@RonnaldBannon. Those hardened, painful muscles could be spastic muscles. (Not the same thing as cramps.) I find gentle stretching with long holds and gentle message can help. I recently found Celebrex works well as a pain killer/anti-inflammatory for me. It does not mend nerve damage, but it helps me keep moving. I got that from my general practitioner.

PT and OT is highly suggested to initially help restore function and deliver modified self care management strategies to keep growing with on this ms journey.

The best continuous stretch I have found for my hamstrings and calves has been a sled with the toes pointed up. It takes a few months for you to stretch
