Many community members responded to the question about frequent heartburn, sharing that they also deal with acid reflux and GERD as part of living with MS. Several members mentioned medications that have helped them, including omeprazole, pantoprazole, Pepcid, and famotidine, while also noting helpful tips like not lying down after eating and being mindful of trigger foods like spicy dishes and soda. A recurring theme was the importance of seeing a gastroenterologist, with one member sharing a serious experience of acid reflux causing a hole in the esophagus, reminding others to take persistent symptoms seriously.

Karona, my wife and I have it and a OTC Med that has helped for 20 years is called Omeprazole.

The downside is that over time it can help in causing bones to become more brittle.

I've been seeing a gastroenterologist for the past several years. My acid reflux has been so bad that it caused a hole in my esophagus. This was discovered when I had an upper GI. I think I am on the proper medication for my acid reflux. I think I have tried like 6 or 7 prescriptions, both single or different combinations. God bless anyone else suffering from acid reflux. 🙏
