Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) has been a topic of interest among people with MS, particularly for managing chronic pain. While it's not FDA-approved for MS, doctors can prescribe it "off-label" when standard treatments haven't worked well enough.

Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) has been a topic of interest among people with MS, particularly for managing chronic pain. While it's not FDA-approved for MS, doctors can prescribe it "off-label" when standard treatments haven't worked well enough.

Some MyMSTeam members have shared positive experiences:

- One MyMSTeam member said, "Low-dose naltrexone really changed my life for the better. I'll probably never stop using it."
- Another MyMSTeam member noted taking it since 2012 with no side effects, mentioning that starting on a lower dose and gradually increasing helped reduce any early side effects. That said, results can vary from person to person. Common side effects to be aware of include:

- Headaches
- Stomach pain
- Difficulty sleeping
- Vivid dreams

It's also important to know that LDN should not be taken alongside opioid pain medications, as this can trigger severe withdrawal symptoms. People with liver issues should also avoid it.

Talking with your neurologist or MS specialist is the best way to find out if LDN could be a good fit for your situation.
