Since supplements aren't regulated the same way medications are, the quality and strength can vary a lot between brands. This makes it tricky to give a standard "how much" or "how long" answer.
The most important step is to speak with your neurologist or urologist before starting it. They can help you:
- Determine if it's safe alongside your current MS medications
- Suggest a starting dose
- Monitor whether it's actually helping your specific bladder symptoms In the meantime, there are several bladder management options that have more evidence behind them for people with MS, including:
- Pelvic floor exercises (Kegels) — shown to reduce bladder symptoms
- Bladder training — urinating on a schedule every couple of hours
- Medications — such as antimuscarinics or mirabegron
- Botox injections — can significantly reduce urgency and incontinence
- Intermittent self-catheterization — helpful when the bladder doesn't empty fully
It's always worth exploring all options with your healthcare team to find what works best for you!
