I have my first appt today and am very nervous. I have no problem urinating, but my neurologist thought seeing a urologist before there were problems would be a good idea. She kind of scared me. Am I to believe there will be problems down the road? What should I expect during my appointment?

Members offered warm reassurance to someone nervous about their first urology appointment, with the general message being that seeing a urologist early is a smart, proactive step rather than a reason to worry. Many community members shared personal experiences with MS-related bladder issues, including urgency, retention, frequent UTIs, and the eventual use of catheters or protective undergarments, while recommending helpful products like probiotics and Uqora. A recurring theme was that bladder challenges are common with MS, but staying ahead of problems with the right medical support makes a real difference.

Taking action before you have to is a good idea. I love the concept of 'pre-habilitation' -- take measures now and you may not have problems down the road.

Yes, bladder urgency is something that many of us struggle with. It’s just something that you should have in the back of your brain to be aware that it’s something that may become an issue down the road.

Well said, @A MyMSTeam Member! Sadly, I am the same. I, too, require the use of a Depends these days when I am going to be far away from a bathroom. BTW, I am 57 as this year. I was born in 69, I tell folks I was born at Woodstock…..

I’ve had MS for five years and am 50 years old. I’ve had bladder issues for a while now and my neurologist also recommended I go as well for prevention more then anything
