Amanda completed her undergraduate studies at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she studied biology and science education. She then went on to complete her Ph.D. in immunology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Her doctoral studies focused on the antibody response, autoimmunity, and how autoreactive cells may be helpful during an immune response against pathogens such as HIV. Her graduate studies built her expertise in the immune system, autoimmune diseases, antibodies, vaccines, and infectious diseases. Amanda’s experience with education during her undergraduate career helped her develop the communication skills needed to distill complex scientific information into thoughtfully written explanations. She has always enjoyed writing and communicating science to others and intends to build a career focused on writing and communicating scientific breakthroughs and findings to a diverse audience.
