I'm very interested in learning about what kind of supplements any of you may rely on and any kinds of alternative therapies you may use? I do take a DMD (Copaxone) and several drugs for symptoms (Gabapentin, Tramadol, Tizanidine, Zoloft, Ativan, at this point... but the Gaba, Tramadol and Zoloft are the only ones I take consistently, the other two are as needed). I also was told to supplement with 2000IU's of Vitamin D daily, but my Neuro's PA said that's pretty much all she could recommend for… read more

I purchased the ALA and Acetyl L carnitine....I watched the all powerful "DR. OZ"...and he gave all kinds of reasons why we need to BACK off of the carnitine.....I'm back to studying the whys of it again. Mostly it was backing off of the "red meat" in your diet that creates carnitine in your body.

Evening Primrose Oil...or BORAGE oil...This has been suggested since I was first diagnosed in 1989. BOOKS, no internet...:)

Magnesium has helped me manage muscle spasms...when I take it daily, I do not have as many spasms or cramping.
THe VItamin D also, when I take it, I feel better, and cope better...if I don't take it, I definitely KNOW I didn't take it.I haven't gone as high as 1000mg on the magnesium....that will take some thinking for me.

Hi Mary, I have been researching and found a Dr. Terry Wahls that has MS. She found some interesting information in her own research that help get her out of a wheel chair. She created a diet for MS that help make that happen. I've learned a few things reading her web page and watching her videos. Check out her web page. Just search her name. TERRY Wahls!

My neurologist suggested I take Alpha Lipoic Acid daily. He also suggested I take Cinnamon daily for over all health. Do 'google' search and read the benefits of each. Hopefully this will be of some help ..

Large doses of vitamin D plus a multi-vitamin. Heart smart and diabetic diets are wonderful.....and exercise even when you don't feel like you can lift your fingers!!!! That's my daily way of dealing with MS. I take no other meds.
