I have a great boss but my income is lower than what I could earn being disabled. I feel that I am forced to work because I am physically able to get around yet I am in significant daily pain. I need more rest and have to try and balance it all while raising a six year old on my own. I feel stuck and would love to try and get on disability. I don't like feeling like I am "just here." Each day is a mental and physical challenge and I would love to spend time taking care of myself but paying… read more
i was approved for disability years ago, and fatigue was probably the main reason. fatigue & brain fog. oh, and i was approved without using a lawyer. i got the form from SSA, filled out my parts, had my neurologist fill out his parts, got copies of my medical records (huge tile, lol)and filed the request at the local SSA office. a couple of weeks later, they sent me to THEIR neuro, and shortly after, got notice i had been approved for disability & a good bit of back pay! :)
It takes about a year from your appeal to get a hearing scheduled. So if you have waited 7 months expect to wait 5-7 more months. Disabilityjudges.com has the location of the closest hearing office's, judges at each office with comments, and how far out they are for hearings.

IT's all about medical documentation!!!
It has been since September that I could work and missed a large amount of time on my job. I have been suffering from my multiple sclerosis since January 2012 and now I have this problem keeping the from working. My MS had gone from recurring remitting two secondary progressive form. This is a more aggressive form of MS that creates numerous problems with balance and equilibrium. I have accepted the fact that I'm getting worse there is no cure for MS. Lately I noticed that my MS was affecting me to the point that I struggle to try to work and had suffered from numerous falls and injuries. Denise and I had made the decision to file for permanent disability with Social Security. It was hard to do this and it took three weeks to be approved. My disability will take place in April 2013. Most people are denied approval and work trying to get assistance for months or years.
At the end of December, Sioux City truck sales let me go from my position and I was unemployed. Losing all of my medical insurance, adding new challenges in my life.
I have and gotten my first 2 denials and now waiting for a court date. It's been 7 months so far... struggle continues!
