MS has not got me completely down. I am still able to work, which I am greatful for! The job I'm at now just isn't really good with my MS. I am looking for a different job, but now I'm alittle nervous about the insurance side of it all. MS is an exepensive disease. I don't have to tell you this, you know as well. If it weren't for insurance I would not be able to afford any MS drug. I have decent insurance right now, but I can't stand this job. If I get a new job will insurance deny me because I… read more

Yes, SSD allows you to work part time while on disability. I THINK it is up to $700 a month gross. They will even help you retrain for another job if you want.

I'm still working for the same reason. The insurance is the only perk. I'm too worn down to go anywhere else and the insurance that I have is probably one of the best in the area. The good news for you is - with the new insurance laws (thank you, thank you) you can't be turned down for preexisting conditions.

It is against the law for ANY insurance to deny you, it's part of "The Affordable Car Act". You also might want to contact the maker of your meds to see if you can qualify for a lower price or possibly free med.

With the new health care laws, they're not supposed to be able to exclude you for pre-exhisting conditions. However, do as much research as possible about a company before applying and, if you get an interview, ask them about it. Do'nt say you have MS when you do, unless you feel it to be advantageous to do so.

I am not sure about where you live and getting on a group plan with a new job but as an individual having to get insurance I was denied by all the major insurance carriers because I have a pre-existing condition. Now, I did find an affordable insurance through the government of all places, it is call PCIP but they are closing their program out now that the Obamacare stuff has gone into effect as of Oct 1 I've got to start insurance shopping again but I've been told that I can't be denied anymore because of the MS. We shall see....
