Does anyone on site, know a good, caring, neurologist in the Raleigh, NC area, that will listen to and interact with his/her patients? I need to find another neurologist - preferably NOT with Raleigh Neurology! Anyone you might feel comfortable recommending?
Thank you!
Thanks for that information @Tip-o-knee! Well, I'm not driving at present, so Chapel Hill would be a stretch, but I hope to be back to driving soon, as my symptoms have been improving lately on Dr.Jelinek's MS Recovery Program. My experiences with raleigh neurology have been damned diappointing and I need a change!
Thanks @A MyMSTeam Member! Well, I'm letting Dr. Michael Gwinn at Carolina Back Institute take care of my MS. He's the one that diagnosed my MS 34 years after the incompetent and uncaring neurologist, Mitch Freedman, one of the founders of Raleigh Neurology, failed to follow up and diagnose my MS at the onset, and then brushed me off and wrecked my bones with Prednisone, that cost me a hip replacement. Dr. Gwinn can read and compare my brain and spinal MRIs just as well as a neurologist and as long as I'm not taking any of the awful damned MS DMDs, he's a much better Dr. I'm so fortunate to have Dr. Gwinn for the care and management of my MS! I was so fortunate that I connected with Dr. Gwinn before and after my hip replacement. I'm also extremely fortunate to have found that Dr. Gwinn is familiar with LDN and uses it in his practice, and he was happy to prescribe it for me when I asked. I have been on the LDN for almost 6 months now and has been a Godsend and has done WONDERS for me!! My results seem to be at least as good - and probably better than with the awful MS DMDs with none of the awful side effects! And it's CHEAP - I pay about $46/month to a local compounding pharmacy
- Medicap. I gladly pay that out of my own pocket! And the LDN is ORAL - no daily injections and no infusions! I'm very pleased and looking forward to my next round of MRIs! I'll keep the Dr. at Duke in mind! Thanks for writing and have a good day!
I know it's been a while since you asked this question, but in case you haven't found a new neurologist yet, Dr. Joel Morgenlander at Duke is wonderful!
Thank you very much, @Durham! I appreciate the recommendation! BTW - I grew up in Durham, and like you, I miss running, too! Have a good evening!
I live in raleigh, but my md is at UNC. I started at raleigh neurology but the md was not nice and didn't listen so I left. He basically told me without looking at my MRI, ther was no way I could have ms only or call me three days later after looking at the MRI, t come back, I did. I work at the hospital so asked around and found Dr. Roque. UNC has a MS clinic as well. Love him..
