Smoking actually increases the production of a toxin in the body, called acrolein. Acrolein increases the rate of demyelination. Obviously, we already have problems with demyelination, so that just adds to why smoking for us is not healthy for our bodies. Good luck with quitting! You can do it!!! =0)

Besides the fact that it's bad for everything, I noticed it makes my legs weaker for about 10 minutes or so.....I'm quitting next week! Wish me luck!
I have read that smoking is very bad when you have ms. I haven't quit yet either. I am smoking less now though. But I haven't quit yet. Good luck when you're ready! Have you thought about getting the electronic cigs to help the process? They only contain nicotine, which isn't really "bad" per se. It's just the addictive ingredient. So you get that, without all the harmful affects. It isn't the same, but it does help. Good luck!!
I've had every doctor tell me that not only is smoking bad for your health in general, it causes relapses in MS. Cigarets have so many harmful toxins. I was diagnosed with MS 2 years ago and after I made smoked a couple times but have quit now basically since. It seems so hard but just concentrate on not want to loose another or any function to MS and eventually those craving do go away and you realize how much better you feel ;-)
Supposely it does...but it's hard to quit when you're stressed out over having MS
