Does anyone know if glaucoma can be caused by having multiple sclerosis ?
The coexistence of glaucoma neuropathy and multiple sclerosis neuropathy may indicate common elements of glaucoma and SM pathogenesis. The authors recommend precise morphological optic disc evaluation in multiple sclerosis patients because glaucoma neuropathy may appear. I got this from this website and it appears in other searches also. The National Library of Medicine: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18260288/
I have Primary Progressive MS and I got Glaucoma a few years back.
Interestingly I also read a Doctor who treats glaucoma also feels it is not just isolated to the eyes but to the brain as well. Mine was in one eye only at first but progressed to both eyes.
I have never heard that, but . . .
