Members responded warmly to a question about spasticity, sharing that the electric jolts, cramps, and uncontrollable jerking described are very common spasticity experiences with MS. Several members shared medications that have helped them, including Baclofen, Tizanidine, Lyrica, and Gabapentin, while others mentioned helpful non-medication options like magnesium gel, Thermawork spray, stretching exercises, aquatic therapy, and CPAP therapy. A recurring theme was the importance of tracking symptom frequency and intensity and advocating clearly with doctors to find the right combination of treatments.

It feels like you've been lifting hay bails the day before....like a hard work out. Really stiff.tight muscles.
The electric shock is due to lesions on your spine someone told me. I've also heard there is medication for both

Tizanidine( (zaniflex) helps me a great deal especially with painful muscle spasms, I also use Thermawork spray to spray directly on the area where spasms occur & they are immediately gone. This stuff is a God Send & it can be purchased at most drug stores.

That klonopin is highly addictive. I was on it for 30 years. All the benzodiazipines are. Just be careful.🥰

Spasticity in your legs suck but I was prescribed Clonazepam (3) 0.5 mg tablets at night time. This Pharmaceutical drug clonazepam helps relieve my spasticity in my legs and lets me sleep! Thanks

I have spasticity in different ways,in different places. Zings and zaps and shooting electrical like pains plus it seems to be part of the cause of atrophy( loss of muscle) in my right leg. It also causes low back pain that's not helped AT ALL by taking strong narcotics. Baclofen is the only drug that I've taken that works well. Other muscle relaxers can help too. Tizanadine works well too,if you can't take Baclofen.
