Does anyone know if you are allowed to work at all when on SSI? I have been on SSI for years but my health is finally improving and I feel like I could handle working a little bit but I don't want to lose the SSI or Medicare.
You can work but there is an amount of hours and income you can work. My son's was stopped because he made to much one year.
Awesome advice! Thanks !
You should check out my latest blog post. It kinda hits on being stuck at home because of ms.

It goes by income level. If someone is on SSI and SSDI you should have them contact their state WIPA (work incentive planning and Assistance) they will help them understand how working will effect their benefits. They can even calculate how much it will change by the their income.
I will definitely check it out. :-)
I am on SSDI and they do allow me to work pt- however I can't gross over 1,000 a month... with my fatigue and other ms related issues ..I can only manage 10 hrs a week so its unlikely I'd ever run the risk of losing benefits...but those few hours help to give me a purpose..when I am home... I tend to think about all the things I cannot do and I get very depressed. Find a job you love and one ith flexibility..it feels good to work for a company who has a heart... lost so many jobs in my llife because of my ms... still makes me cry..but moving forward... I now have great people around me at long last. Good luck, before you do anything check with SSI.
