Functional Recovery From Progressive Forms?

A MyMSTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Dunwoody, GA

Has anyone here with any progressive form of MS (PPMS, SPMS, or RPMS) experienced functional recovery of the sort reported by Dr. Terry Wahls? If so, did you follow any specific dietary and/or other regimen? Thanks for any knowledge you can share.

I was trying to do the Paleo diet but have a hard time preparing food so I cheated a lot. Would like to try again and really stick to it but it’s the low sugar content that I have a hard time with. Any suggestions?

GregJake27: It will be interesting to see whether Terry's remission lasts, or if she relapses. I sincerely hope she maintains her functional recovery; not only because I wish her well, but also because it would offer a little reason for hope. I have grown very tired of regarding PPMS as incurable.

Hi Dacha. If you do try Wahls' protocol, or other "Paleo Diet", let us know how it goes for you.

I am sceptical of Dr. Wahls' claims. I have spoken with her and her son on the phone. Lovely person in so many ways BUT (and I acknowledge everyone's MS is unique) I believe she experienced very extended relapse and remittance phases and was not "curing" her MS through diet. Hey, who can argue an excellent diet is beneficial for everyone? IMHO it is not a "fix" but it certainly doesn't hurt.
