We have a protocol at the hospital I work at. No matter what the disease or disorder, everyone can still donate, all the decisions are made by the donor organization, as they can determine what can be used when or with whom. They will sit down and talk to the family or next of kin regarding what they may be able to utilize. There are so many different tissues/organs and other items that can be lifechanging for someone else-up to about 20 people. Definitely look into it.

You can still stay on the donor list, it is the organ donation organization that will determine what and what cannot be used when it comes to that time.

I have often wondered the same things.. so there goes my 'unique blood', so says the nurse! But I bet it could be used in another area. I'll do research to see.
