I started Tec in May. My doctor had me on 3 wks of 120 before upping it to 240. I was GREAT on the 120s. However once I started the 240s I was so sick. So after about 3 weeks of misery my doc put me back down to 120 for 2 wks, then 120 in the AM and 240 in the PM for one week, to ease back into the 240 s regularly. If I were having that much of a problem with the Tecfidera, I would have a serious talk with my doctor about it before I considered manually reducing my dosage (if for no other reason that so that he was aware of the dosage, to monitor the effects).
If you do not mind my asking, you say you were very sick-was it gastrointestinal upsets, or other effects? If the former, I have heard (and experienced) some recommendations, such as eating before taking it (which worked for me), or taking aspirin (or baby aspirin) beforehand (heard from a friend also on it, but have not tried it personally), or taking apple pectin beforehand (heard from a pharmacist, but have not tried personally).
With everything I've seen with MS being in the "your mileage may vary" category, I do hope you find what works best for you, and wish you good luck in doing so.

I'm actually doing alright on the 240mg 2x daily dosage. I take it with a large spoonful of peanut butter. It's been easier on my tummy. I think initially I just needed a more gradual introduction to the drug.
I wish Biogen Idec (the company behind Tecfidera) would consider allowing all doctors to prescribe a lesser dosage longer than the initial 1 wk trial. My doctor was able to because his clinic participates in the clinical trials affiliated with Biogen.
Things have been going well. Mild stomach aches and dry mouth are the only side effects now. So I'm okay with that!
