Crowdsourced: 6 Steps To Reduce Side Effects From Interferons (Infographic)

Posted on November 30, 2016

On MyMSTeam, members shared the steps they take before, during and after Interferon injections to reduce pain and side effects. We realized that there's a ritual many MSers follow -- tested and tried steps to take during each injection that help reduce injection site pain and side effects.

One of our members said, “If I stay hydrated and pre-medicate with ibuprofen, it isn’t really too bad,” (31yr. old woman, dx Relapse/Remitting MS in 2011). Others find less pain when they inject after taking the pen or syringe out of the refrigerator and waiting until it is at room temperature.

We put together this 6-step ritual to ease the process of Interferon injections. Some of the tips include planning recovery time, hydrating, and pre-medicating with over-the-counter pain relievers before the injection.

How do you ease pain and side effects from Interferon injections? What's your process?
