Have been on Tysabri for 3+ years. My risk of PML has dramatically increased and my doc suggests changing to either Gelenya or Tecfidera. Anyone done this? Anyone have any recommendations? THANKS!
I moved from Tysabri to Tecfidera due to a high JC virus titer. I have been on Tecfidera for about 6 months. I had minor flushing a couple of times. I have occasional GI issues. As long as you eat with it you can avoid side effects. I have had no new lesions so far.
I also went off Tysabri partly from the arthritis side effect and also the PML risk. My family had enough to deal with, not also an absent wife/mom. I know others have had luck with it, my personal choice was to change. Best of Luck Friend
I was on rebif 8 years. then, I was on tsysabri 4 yrs and switched to gilenya. So far so good. Worse side effect is fatigue for me. I guess I didn't really notice until after I stopped the tsysabri. Tsysabri truly is the best med out there, but not without its risks. Gilenya I feel is a great 2nd option. It's once a day and no injections. It seems most cant tolerate the Tecfidera due to the bad diarrhea. Whatever you choose, take something to slow this down. I hope this helped.
Thanks everyone -- I really appreciate you sharing your experiences!
