I have been suffering with trigeminal neuralgia/atypical facial pain for 5 years. It presents as constant, most days level 10 pain in my front tooth. I have tried every conceivable medication. Tegretol is the first line prescription, but I was allergic. Also took Gabapentin for a long while. Even resorted to full blown brain surgery last summer. Idea was to see if I would get relief from an MVD (decompressing veins that were rubbing against my trigeminal nerve). No luck. Seeing an oral facial pain specialist who has prescribed me a compound paste to apply to my gums. Sometimes helps. Long story short, I personally have gotten the best relief (minor but better than nothing) from Clonapin plus Lyrica. I have much more info on this topic, so let me know if you are interested.

Mine never disappears. Flair up or no. Unrelenting for years.

Trigeminal neuralgia is a BITCH. Call your doctor to get a script for the pain. It will disappear when the flare-up departs. Stay well. Peace, Mary Ann
