That's what I do for a living, help process disability claims for an attnys office. The key is medical records! And details. Get an attny but make sure they don't charge a fee unless you're awarded and that they will help gather the medical evidence requested by DDS (disability determination services).
Depending on if you are in a reconsideration or non reconsideration state, you either will be at the reconsideration level or waiting for a hearing. If you are at the reconsideration level it will take another 4-6 months for a decision to be made. If you are waiting for a hearing it can take around 11-14 months until a hearing will be scheduled.
Either way, you will want to contact your providers to make sure they have sent your records in. If not, get copies from your providers and submit them your self.
Hope that helps!
I took loads of paperwork to my medical meeting and no-one even looked at any of it! So frustrated! Filed the appeal and have no idea what to do next...just wait?!
Thank You!!
I went to S.S. office first and was turned down, and applied again only to be turned down again. I then used a Lawyer who handled disability cases and after going before a judge was granted disability. My advise would be to use a disability lawyer, it will make things go much easier.
