Are you still able to donate blood or plasma when you are on DMD?

MS is not currently listed by the American Red Cross as a condition prohibiting donation (http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eli...). At one time, it was considered an ineligible conditions, but that was changed several years ago (and thus why it is still common to find information stating such).

Personally, I have donated a few times since my diagnosis. Each time, I made sure to ask to be sure the position had not changed, that the medication I was on was not a problem, and that my local facility also considered it okay to do so.

My local Red Cross is ok with my using Avonex or Plegridy, so they are fine HERE. Still, you might ask before you donate.
