@A MyMSTeam Member, yes I also have been losing a lot of my hair, it has been going on about three years now. I got my thyroid checked and yes I do have hypothyroidism, which can cause hair loss, I am on two thyroid meds now and my levels are normal, but my hair still sheds, maybe not as bad but it still does. I started out with very thick hair though, so the thinnng of my hair isn't that noticeable yet, I can tell though, it's gotten much thinner around the right side of my forehead hairline. I told my neuro doc about it and he said that My meds do not have that side effect, so who knows?

I was tested for thyroid issues and also alopecia, and I didn't have either of those problems. It's just getting thinner and thinner. My favorite feature was always my hair...and now it's barely there. People say they don't notice and it looks good. Not sure if they're just being nice to me, or if they really can't notice. I got about 7 inches of hair cut since it's been falling out cause it looks horrible long. I have heard about biotin and women's multivitamin. And only just recently heard about getting extra iron. Just yesterday I started a biotin chewable with 5000mcg. I hope and pray that it helps cause I'm 38 and still single and had to move back in with my parents and I'm very self conscious about my hair and going out cause I feel like I look horrible. Also I have been using a special shampoo from my dermatologist for months now, and it's not a darn thing. Also, others I've talked to with ms have noticed hair loss in the beginning of their diagnosis, but it went back to normal, and we're all on different meds, so that's why I know it's not the meds and it's gotta be the ms. But mines been falling out for over a yr since my diagnosis and not getting better. I appreciate your responses very much...I'm gonna try those vitamins!! Thank you!!

Hey everyone! Thank you for all your responses! I'm still very new to this site and trying to figure out how to use it. But I tried chewable biotin supplements for about 3 weeks, and no change yet in hair. It's still falling out tons! But the chewable was giving me insanely awful stomach cramps. So I just went to the store today and got a bottle of "hair, skin, and nails" supplement. So I'm going to start that tomorrow. I forget if it had iron in there or not, but I'm sure that it does. My gyn told me to take extra iron and even protein for hair growth. So I will keep you all posted on the new supplement. Also kathy, no, I do not take those medications. I'm on gilenya, baclofen, gabapentin, valium, vitamin d, and the continuous birth control pill. It seemed that when I would get my period, my headaches / migraines were insanely worse. So, I haven't had a full regular period since February 2013!! And I have not had Tha insanely bad pain since. I still have headaches everyday for 15 months now, but they're not nearly as bad as when I was getting my period. So, who knows about that relation of ms and periods. But I'll keep you all posted about the hair skin and nails supplement for sure! Thanks for all your responses! I'm sure I'll get used to this page someday! ;)

@A MyMSTeam Member I added you to my team, let us know how the Biotin works out, I know it will probably take awhile till it starts working, but definitely update about it.

@A MyMSTeam Member I looked up alot of my meds'side effects over this past weekend and low and behold, the stimulant methylphenidate ( Ritalin, Concerta, aderall, etc.) that I take does have hair loss as a side effect, so I thought maybe your were taking this med also?
