There is so much more available treatment options today. When I was diagnosed 25 years ago betaseron was starting to be remarked on as a future tx. But the prognosis was kind of grim for us as we did not have the benefit of education on MS like there is now . Disease modifying meds and more awareness regarding better nutrition, physical therapy and alternative options for treatment. It's so important to be your own expert and partner with your Dr in setting up your treatment plan.

I will only be in the Hospital for three weeks that is if i am chosen for HSCT my EDSS was less than 6 however before I went over to Rush Medical Dr. Burt had told me that I would probably be a candidate for off study than after we got home we received a call saying that I qualified for the study they have come a long way with HSCT over the last decade,in my opinion it is going to be a fight in getting the FDA to approve this due to the amount of money that pharmaceutical companies would lose not to mention doctors and so on its going to be one political mess unfortunately that's my opinion

Yes I did get into the trial I will be flying back to Chicago Lord willing for pretesting and praying HSCT is chosen for me

I believe that the folks at Acorda Therapeutics are on to something as far as those of us who are beyond the initial RRMS diagnosis. First they brought us Ampyra, which has helped many of us continue walking, and now they are in Stage II trials for a drug that will promote myelin repair. I find that, along with the new stem cell research finally going on, to be extremely encouraging news for all of us.
