Has Anyone Received The New Med Lamtrada?
Lamtrada was approved by the FDA in Nov. or Dec. 2014. It's for those that have previously been on a treatment and failed.
I'm in the extended trial. I had my first infusion in May 2009, 2nd in May 2010. Normal you have one on the third year, but I entered into the extended trial. I haven't had any relapses since. Just had a MRI and my lesions are still getting smaller! I recommend it highly!!!
It is expensive, most insurances cover it though.
I received Lemtrada 2 & 1/2 weeks ago. When I was looking into it and still I find a group on Facebook extremely helpful. Search for 'Lemtrada for MS Treatment.' There is a wealth of information on there from people all over the world.
@A MyMSTeam Member I am 3 months post and feel amazing! This is the longest I have gone without a relapse and no medication or treatment in a long time. I found the FB group very informative and supporting.
I did 3 days first year. A little rough. He said sometimes he gives over 5 days because of dosage. Second year and every year after has been three days of 10 mls . I have had 4 treatments in 4 years. I was pretty bad when I started and this was like a hail mary for me. It has been a great drug. Little side effects so far. I do have a nodule on thyroid. I have had fewer relapses. Brain mri is showing improvement. I was lucky to enter an on going study so cost is covered right now.
I had the treatment my 5 day treatment two weeks ago ago all I, can tell you is I believe it's the Holy Grail we've all been looking for for ms
