Do your own web search on the 4 types there are, then compare the symptoms. Maybe there is a good reason why the Dr. hasn't told you, ask him or her why hasn't the type been identified. Before my first Dr. visit, I had to fill out a medical history. It helps knowing what all lead up to the Dx as well. Maybe get a second opinion, I did.

Many doctors seem to be limited on helping us understand our conditions, mine called me after my MRI with the results and told me to research as much as I could on the internet before our next meeting and then at the next meeting he didn't give me much information to help understand this thing. I find some sites helpful on the internet and there are some good groups you can join on facebook that are great for getting answers you need.

If you are only seeing a primary care physician then you need to try to find a neurologist in your area who either specializes in, or is well versed in MS. In this day and age all of the tests and technology are available to identify what type of MS you have. You might even be able to find one listed here on this site under the Providers link. I hope that you are able to find one because that is the only way that you will be able to get on a course for treatment.
