I suffer from post hermetic neuralgia and MS. Which is very painful. Is there anyone dealing with this? It's been two years now!
All good information. The prune juice has been working for me, I buy the stuff at the dollar store. The cashier must think I love prune juice because I buy 6 bottles at a time ever week! The pain is managed to some degree. I just want to wake up one morning and have it gone. The MS I have come to accept over the years. Yeah count me out for long hikes. Last time I tried that my daughter had to support me all the way back to the car. Funny how the paralysis goes away after a few minutes, but with this pain in comes on quicker. Add the heat in triple digit and forget it I don't get 50 ft before leg malfunctions.
Funny you mention that, I was just thinking about that last night. I go for my MRI tomorrow and thought about that if the Copaxone is working. I thought rebif was fine, MRIs looked good for 6 years. I just didn't like the shots and Gilenya was my escape from the needle. I really don't want to deal with opioids, They mess with my bowls, which is already a problem with MS. I know that rebif like many others play with your immunity, reason I got the shingles in the first place, that has caused this ongoing misery for almost three years. I am aging fast, my wife says Its because I am getting old. I see it as progressive aging from pain and misery, but I have to leave this to someone else, someone of higher power, mainly God, because I am tired of looking for the right solution.
I appreciate the information. I looked at the information, trust me I have been looking for a solution. After two years. I was 49 when i got the shingles, thought it would pass, it did, but the pain never stopped. I am 52 will be 53 in March 2016. This is chronic. I have had MS for 12 years, maybe more. I am tired, It all started when I switched from rebif to geleneya, now I am wondering if the copaxone is even working.
This pain is driving me insane. I went down to 300mg 3x a day and use the lidocaine patch. My pain goes from my lower back left side to my hip to my naval. This morning for example its burning around my stomach. Point is the pain is always there. Everything I take calms the intensity of the pain. My skin is too sensitive on that area. The wind, running water, cloths...its nerve damage. in addition to MS which is nerve damage too.
Yep, taking 1800mg of the gabapentin a day, plus lidocain patch 5mg. It seems to be managing it. Thanks
I was going to do a nerve ablation, but I heard it can cause more pain, or it is not recommended for PHN.
