I need some help. Was just told today that I now need to go on a treatment medication. it's either Tysabri infusions, or Tecfidera. I first needed to find out if I have to JCV virus. waiting on that yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tysabri has helped tremendously! I don't feel 100% but it helps a lot. I've been on it since Feb and I have seen many improvements. My cousin tried tecfidera and it was hard on her stomach. I also have a friend that was on Tecfidera, thought he was doing great and got his yearly MRI and found he had a bunch more lesions so now he has to be on Tysabri.

Even if you are JCV + and it is low enough, you can go on Tysabri for up to 2 years. In that timeframe you are at the same risk as someone that is negative, but then after the 2 yr mark your chance of getting PML increases. <1/1,000 They also monitor your levels every 3 months if positive & every 6 months if negative. I'm positive and my levels went down since being on Tysabri. Hope this helps!

I am on tecfidera and like it. I have had no side effects mostly due to what I am eating (as directed by my neuro) when I take it. It's my understanding that Tysabri is further up the food chain as far as meds go. It depends on your symptoms and situation. Good luck!

I am on Tecfidera and have been for 8 months. Eating befor taking the pill helps a lot...and now that I've been taking it for a while, I hardly get any flushing. I have continued to have more Ms symptoms and will be switching to Tysabri soon. I hope it will be the one.

I'm on Tysabri from what I understand from my neurologist the JC virus is measured by number value. If the numbers start to go up they will stop the treatment and try something else. So far so good. I've been on it for 7 months and my last MRIs showed no new liesons and the ones I have actually got smaller.

I switched from Tysabri to Tecfidera, and switched back to Tysabri. I had new activity thanks to the tecfidera among many other serious problems. I will not make that mistake again. If it isn't more effective then Tysabri, pass.
