What do u do for restless legs? I get it sometimes at night and during the day! It's getting annoying..
My hubby has terrible restless legs, really restless body, day or night. They tried several things before going to Requip which was a life saver as he was not sleeping & still working 6+ days a week walking 6 miles each shift. Hope you find something. For leg cramps, a spoonful of yellow mustard will stop then almost immediately...was amazed!
@GeriThirskSandoff We have found that when hubby is overtired and finally stops movingly, i.e. gets in the truck after a long shift or lays down after being on his feet, that is when his hits him hard. The Requip is a wonder drug because it also helps him sleep. His legs & arms will still be moving but he is asleep. The last guy to do his sleep study said in the a.m. "Buddy you wore me out watching you!". He is of the same thought as you, mind over body and has the highest pain tolerance I've seen but his body won beat him in this department because with no sleep it only got worse and made everything else worse. Good luck to you.
I have found that Gabapentin (up to 900mg) can sometimes increase the RLS. I take it too but have to make sure I don't take the gabapentin after supper. I am beginning to think that sometimes it is what it is. Unfortunately, we just have to suck it up and deal with it. I have always tried to prove to myself that I still have some control and at the age of 65, rebel and do what they said I can't do. It doesn't help the body deal but it gives the mind some power. Is that what they call mind over matter? Maybe.
Magnesium 750mg and Gabapentin 900mg at night. During the day, it depends and I will take very small doses of gabapentin.
I totally understand what you are going through,. I get full body RLS and usually really bad at night. I take 500 mg. of magnesium twice a day plus iron in the morning (and take vitamin c to help the iron to absorb). I also take the prescription sinemet at night. It helps most of the time, but there are times when nothing helps. I find that if I stay busy through the day (or as busy as I can) I can ward it off sometimes but it hits hard at night.
