I am only on nerve pain meds, and I cannot be given any MS meds, treatments available to younger people because of my age, 72. I have been on the Wahls nutrition protocol for 2. 5 months. Very committed! More energy, less voice, word formation problems, shorter naps refresh me, better walking, and have lost 11 pounds.
Listen to her Ted talk. Read her book if you can get it from the library or if you want to purchase it. If you have strong feelings about eating meat in general let alone organ meat, this might not be the ideal scenario for you… But there are reasons she recommends what she does and only following pieces that you're OK with Will not achieve the same results as if you strictly follow what has worked for her. Even if you do strictly follow it, everyone reacts differently to things and it may not work perfectly for you. You have to figure out what level you can sustain and try to stick with that. It drives me crazy when people ask about a certain @diet but then gripe about some of the key factors of said @diet.
If you don't think you can do it, don't do it. It's not a magical cure all, but I know eating as close to recommended has helped her and many people in clinical trials and who have tried her program.
I am currently trying to figure out what balance between the walls protocol and SANE solutions (the calorie myth by jonathan bailor) that might work best for me… But I'm tempted to try at least level one of the Wahl's protocol to see whether or not it works for me (and I'm actually tempted to add in the organ meat more regularly at least by way of chicken hearts which I love- technically level 2- and I already try to do seaweed in the form of sushi - technically level 2, it's just hard to find and expensive).
I just ordered and think will try from what already read and seen. My favorite foods anyway in it!
I'm reading her book! My fingers are seriously crossed...
Thanks Katrina I have it because my brother bought it for me to read. I wont eat the organ meat either. I dont eat red meat as it is. I am going for my spinal tap this morning so hopefully I will get to ask the doctor some questions.
