I am looking to get a mobility scooter, but when I use the ones provided by the stores, I feel compromised by being down so low. I can stand for short periods and walk short distances, so I have been considering a stand and sit three wheeler. Anyone tried these?

I have done a lot of research over the past year just in case the need to buy should arise, which fortunately it has not yet, but if I needed to buy something tomorrow it would be this chair because it folds up and only weighs 50 lbs. None of the 3 wheel or other sitting type scooters that I found fold up, or are as easily transportable. This one is my current " pick of the litter " ;

When I got my three wheeler the Home Medical ( medical company in the area that sells medical / oxygen equipment) came to my house to measure what type of scooter would fit through the halls and doorways. They told me in order for the insurance to cover it it had to be usable in the house. I have a Go Go elite traveller which works in my small home. It's a lifesaver as far as getting around in the home. I use it to go with a handicap van into town, although it's not really made to be used outside. Depends on where you plan to use the score of the most. If you are planning to use it outside as well as inside that's something to look at. I also got a scooter that I purchased myself for outside that is capable of going on the grass and on the roads. Couple things to think about is do you need a scooter that has the chargeable outlet on the tiller, in other words on the steering column? And do you have issues with being able to get on and off a scooter. I didn't at first but I do now and scooter I have doesn't have much room to get your feet on and off. Something else to think about when you are looking at one. Hope that helps you some.

Please get a Physical Therapy consult to help figure out the best solution for your current status. They really can help with these kind of issues. Your doctor can order it and insurance usually pays for it.
