Does anyone else feel scared about trying physical challenges? My friend wanted to go long boarding today and i said no because i was scared i couldn't do it. Should i try things like that? I want to do things but I'm so scared to try... should i try anyway? I went on a long walk a couple weeks ago and i felt so accomplished. Does anyone else experience the same feeling?

To @A MyMSTeam Member and every one else I fly a few times a year. Some suggestions: ask for a wheel chair - it makes going from one place to another at the airport easier; have your cane out so you can use it if necessary; pre-board the plane (here is why having your cane out is a good idea). Don't worry that the cane and wheel chair may not be necessary, you don't know when you will need them.

You have MS don't let MS have you. For myself I know that the more I do now the more I will be able to do later. So challenge yourself, but also be aware of yourself; if you're having a bad day wait and try it when you are having a better day.

You seem to have gotten a lot of great advice, but I wanted to add a piece from my recent experience. I recently had the opportunity to go to Disney. I was afraid of the heat, the insane amounts of walking, and even the roller coasters flaring my symptoms, but I went with an understanding of what the worst case would be (needing to transiting to a wheelchair and/or leaving early). It was just me and my husband, and we talked about how we would handle it if I started feeling bad. I knew that I wouldn't get hurt and I wouldn't cause any additional damage, so why not try? If we ended up needing to leave early, we decided we would be on with that. Understand what the possible outcomes are and as long as you're not putting yourself at an unfair risk of getting hurt, I say go for it. If you find you reached your limit with something, consider it a learning opportunity and then don't be afraid to try again another day.

I know exactly what you mean Bridgette. I'm nervous to push myself too hard because it might cause a flare. So I'm going slowly, learning that patience is the virtue I need to concentrate on, taking it one day at a time and following my heart. If you want to skateboard, go for it! Just do it to the degree you're comfortable with. And you're right, it is a bigger accomplishment! ๐Ÿ˜Š
