I have just started Rebif (2 weeks). For the past week I have have sharp pains in my fingers, and an increase in my weakness, fatigue, and cog fog. My team nurse says that the side effects of the Rebif can worsen ms symptoms til you adjust. I expected flu-like symptoms but not a relapse. Anybody else with this experience?

@A MyMSTeam Member That sucks! Sounds like you are worse. I have improved over time although I still have a worse day on my day after Inj. Have you had an MRI recently? Maybe talk to your neurologist about your concerns?

Been using Rebif since 2013 and at first, experienced symptoms indicative of a relapse However, after two or three months, my body obviously began to moderate and only experienced flu like symptoms but the increase in energy means more to me than the other symptoms. Rebif, interferon is new to our bodies and it does take time to adjust. I have felt so good sometimes and then so horrible at other times that I tell Dr. I should stop Rebif. He points out that without Rebif, I would probably NOT be able to pick my head up.

Avonex, which is basically the same as Rebif, only deep tissue injections, caused a flare-up of all my symptoms for 24 hours after the injection. I experienced the same with Rebif, only not to as strong of a degree. If the symptoms continue and or get worse, I'd let your neuro know.

@A MyMSTeam Member First neurologist had a lazy, worthless staff. Typical response time to respond to my emails ranged from 1 week to 2 months! Second neurologist is unwilling to order MRI's more than 1 time per year. I'm, quite frankly, fed up with the medical profession, here in Medford, Oregon.
