Yes and was told not abnormal for autoimmune diseases as a factor -- my ana wasn't very high but I do have many lupus type symptoms which was tested for 7 times over the years

ANA is an initial test done to rule out lupus and is followed by more specific testing. Many false + ANA and MS is one of the things that can cause false + ANA.

These are all autoimmune conditions ad they may co-exist.

It is also one of the indicators for Lupus. That is why you got referred to a rheumatologist. I had a high ANA about 15 years before my MS diagnosis. I got sent to a rheumatologist but it was one of those things. Had a LP that was negative, no Lupus, no RA. When they repeated it, it gradually went back to normal. Looking back, I believe I was having a MS flare, but none of the tests were positive for MS at the time. Good luck! Hope it turns out to be nothing.

Thanks for the answers Irene and Sheila. Not really worried about RA as an RA test came back within normal limits, but do worry about Lupus. It may be just due to a flare though with my MS. Hopefully will get good news once they do some other bloodwork.
