Hello everyone, I have been seeing so much advertisements for "stem cell" procedure... Does anyone know of anyone who tried it and it worked? It's new I know and expensive! I am not sure I would take the chance because I'm sure there are so many risks involved just "curious"
I am a firm believer in HSCT. It seems the ONLY regret people have is not doing it sooner. I applied to the clinical trial at Chicago (which by the way, should be free, specially if they're calling them trials & I have to donate my body) but they are hand selecting people & since I had no relapse within a year, I did not get accepted. BUT, Plans Change - Decisions Don't! I am in 3 waiting list to have it done. Going to get a call soon! I WILL be done with treatment by end of summer!

@A MyMSTeam Member and @A MyMSTeam Member, you will not get worse in the unlikely event that HSCT fails to halt the progression of your MS. Those are scare tactics being used by uninformed neurologists who fail to think 'outside the box' and, more importantly, fear losing their kickbacks from big pharma. companies when HSCT works and you no longer need lifelong use of DMDs. What motivation would a neurologist have to recommend HSCT, something they no nothing about, that would cause a profit stream of theirs to diminish??? MS is a hematologically rooted autoimmune disease that happens to manifest itself in our neurological systems and is defaulted to neurologists. MS is a disease of the blood (which is where our immune system is) that happens to attack out myelin sheath, causing neurological dysfunction. There is a lot of research to be had out there if you are willing to look, and not just listen to our neurologists, who are usually too busy to be bothered with how mangled we are! @A MyMSTeam Member, I would 100% agree with @Olala. I recently had HSCT (18 months ago) overseas to successfully halt the progression of my RRMS. The mantra is no chemo=no cure. I had very active MS prior and have had 2 MRIs since HSCT with no new and no enhancement of lesions, couldn't be happier with my decision!!! Although the words "stem cell" are in the title of HSCT, it is actually a high dose chemotherapy procedure with your own stem cells used afterwards to help the patient recover faster! There are a ton of bogus stem cell therapies out there that are total scams, trying to prey on our weakness for a better life and some relief from the MonSter. If you (or anyone else reading this) are interested in learning more, check out 'My Story" on this site to learn how to very easily join a number of different closed Facebook groups that speak at length about HSCT. I am also very passionate about paying it forward and spreading the good word of HSCT. I'd be more than happy to interact with you (or anyone else.:) to provide more information about the procedure I had done. There is also a trial being done in the US with Dr. Burt through Northwestern in Chicago that are having amazing results. 80% of the patients treated have successfully had their MS halted.
