I have to go to a wedding next month. I don't tell people about my MS except for family and close friends. My walking and balance have gotten pretty bad and I have drop foot not to mention the toes on my right foot are almost always numb. I have to find and buy some kind of dressy dress to wear and can obviously only wear flats. Has anyone had to attend a formal occasion and can give ideas or advice as to what would look ok? Flats and cute cocktail dresses don't seem to go together. I'm having… read more

Hi Jodee...I was going to send u images of dresses with flats but my phone won't allow it. Try googling cocktail dresses with flats and look at the images. They have a ton of cute and chic ideas. I find myself reverting back to my flats...especially at church..having to chace after a 1 yo. Lol. Remember it's all about how u feel when u wear it, don't let the dress and flats wear u, U WEAR THAT DRESS AND FLATS GIRL!!! I'm expecting to see pics too after u wear it. Blessings....

I'm only 5-1 but I no longer wear anything but flats...can't even do wedges safely or gracefully. I don't care. Rather have function than fashion.

I'm 6' tall, so I've "had" to wear flats long before my balance was an issue. This past October I wore a long pleated dress (think Roman style) with simple ballet flats. No one noticed my shoes. And if they did, no one mentioned them. I've also worn dresses of a cocktail/tea length with similar ballet shoes. The best part is, they're not expensive! They don't offer much support, but it's better than falling over. Or... what about accessorising with a pretty cane? Just tell people you hurt your ankle/knee/hip

I've done it! Better that then falling, you'll probably feel even more self-conscious if that happened. Besides, if anyone asks just tell them you broke your toe or something. ;)
