@debralee Listen sister yes this disease is absolutely chaotic and can play with our receptors allowing us to feel alone but u r not. Depression yes but my darling u can control this u have the power to take control of this stinking disease. Have u heard of RSO? There r so many things that we can do to control and stop the insanity, mental madness I call it.Have u ever meditated? It is grand. There is a meditation called Refuge for pain relief and it truly works when applied, it stabilizes your amygdala and it feels wonderful. My darling please love yourself and invest in yourself, pls u r worth it. I just started a FB page Living with MS making a Chaotic World Attainable please join come talk to me. There is also the website Phoenix Tears, lots of support there also. If you want to talk with meet let me know. There r many wonderful people on this site also. Positivity is a Choice, it's a way of life. Baby Steps U can do this pretty woman
I figure I have 2 choices. I can cry or I can laugh. I choose to laugh. Crying gives me a headache. Plus there are more funny things in any single day.
Do I get upset at what i can no longer do? Well, of course I am human. But I refuse to stay on thst pity pot. There is always another way up or around that mountain. I am not disabled - I am alfernateky abled. 'Dis'abled technically means I am not able. Well, yes I am - just in a diffeeent way. It may take me (a lot) longer to get to the 'finish line' but I will get there.
Most days I can barely walk. Ok, I have a wheelchair. i don't like to have to use it, but I am grateful I have one (my favorite color (purple). How can I possibly smile in a chair? Well, I use gloves (protect my hands) so In a store - when I see a child eyeing me I roll up beside the child (and parent) and say 'wanna race?' Laughter all around. And usualy it turns into a teachable moment. The child usualy will ask why I am in a chair. Woo hoo!!
Besides I know of no rule that I cannot allow my inner child to lplay. Whe going down a ramp - I am likely to out my arms out and holler 'beep- beep coming through!!'
Yes, I have bad days where I just absolutely, positively, no doubt about it hate MS - but i still choose to laugh. I may have MS - but MS does not have me! dot
I went through depression for a few years and my life is completely different and I hate MS and have bad days but I just try and not get lost in my bad days an d remember my really dark days and keep perspective that someone always has it worse than me so I need to do what I can to keep living and get through till tomorrow , telling myself tomorrow will be better and keeping hope. Acceptance is tough to gain and living with MS is hard and can suck, but your not alone and we're all here if you need to vent, tell, laugh or just BS!
Know what I hate. When in my wheelchair: 1) people have no respect for the fact that you are actually at BUTT level and under no circumstances so I want their butt in my face because they can't just scoot over. 2) Why on earth treat me like I am a child! You see me in a chair NOT my ability to process or comprehend.
@ ATKBROOD A wet bandana on my neck or head plus my hand fan works in a pinch. My friends think I am a real squirrel, for the ways I stay cool. Oh well, as long as they don't have to watch me throw up or pass out.
