At my last appointment with my neurologist last week I was given my usual list of things to do before I return. Including blood work... This time it included a new lab the CD4/CD8 count.
I am on Tefidera.
Just curious if anyone else has been tested for these... If so, mine were low.

I have it done every couple of months due to Lemtrada. Since Tec affects your lymphocytes, they're watching to make sure you dont develop chronic lymphopenia (too low), which will leave you more susceptible to infections. Its OK to be a bit low, as long as it is stable.

Tecfidera will kill your WBC. That's why they do the testing. They may also do a test to see if you have JC disease which causes brain fever(death). Tecfidera will f you up if you have JC disease.

I also had this done. I had a severe yeast infection of the esophagus and the test was to check on suppression of the immune system. I am on Avonex and the test checked to see if I needed to change medications. As it turned out it was fine. I made the mistake of trying to interpret results. The ratio is what matters not the high and low according to my neurologist.

wow, your Dr ordered that on your blood work? that's really good. That the T cells count. I don't know the meaning of high or low, but I've never had that analyzed in my blood work. You have a good neurologist then.
