Hi! I'm mostly wondering what prescription drugs (including dosage) everyone takes for their fatigue. I take 40 mg of ritalin everyday and I'm STILL tired! I try to eat healthy, exercise, and still nothing! I just would love to get some energy back.

I need to add we have to be careful about what type of fatigue we are talking about. MS fatigue is caused by different things, there is the classic lassitude which is helped the most by meds such as Provigil but fatigue caused by sleep disorders, fatigue from depression etc may be treated differently. So, when we see one person responding well to a med and someone else not responding, it may be because of what the primary cause was in the first place not so much that the med isn't a good one.

Mine is lassitude. That's the classic MS fatigue, fine one minute then seemingly out of nowhere someone "flips the switch" and it all shuts down. Hits generally late morning or afternoon. Brief naps help, exercise helps overall but none of that prevents it. Nutrition can't fix it, no matter how good. It's the disease and when it's severe enough meds are the only way. It also responds the best to fatigue meds.

I use shakeology too, I like it but not sure it did anything for my fatigue. I do like it cause it helps with my nutrition and managing weight. Nothing wrong with good nutrition and exercise, it's just for some of us with lassitude it isn't enough under any circumstance.

I asked my doctor if anything could be done about the tired, feeling in my legs. She ordered Ampra. I've been taking it for 3 days now and already noticed that I didn't have to use my cane to walk!

Sorry, I believe drugs are poison. A totally vegan diet is the best thing I've found for fatigue and a clear head.

okay thanks everyone for the answers! I'm also currently treating depression too, which may contribute to my fatigue but I do feel like it's mostly my lassitude. I'm going to try shakeology considering I already drink protein shakes in the morning, might as well try it! I have tried provigil 300 mg a day and at first it did wonders, but the effects wore off, which is how I'm feeling about my Ritalin. I also am almost a vegan, just occasionally eat some cheeses, but very rarely and only as spreads.
