I'm very newly diagnosed but have had a variety of symptoms for decades. I'm having a lot of visual problems right now and before I book an appointment I wanted to know if there are optometrists who specialize in treating MS patients? I imagine the timing of exams may matter more when MS is a factor.
I started needing reading glasses.....thought this might be my ms. my doc said if reading glasses cured it then it is not ms related. good luck.
Hi @A MyMSTeam Member when my eye started bugging me I went to a regular optometrist at first. He referred me to an ophthalmologist. It was the ophthalmologist that diagnosed optic neuritis and started me on prednisone. He ordered the MRIs and referred me to a neurologist. I know some friends on here from the US have mentioned MS ophthalmologists. I don't know if there are any in Edmonton, thought. I've only had the single bout if optic neuritis so far so I haven't searched out a specialist. I hope it clears up soon for you! X
