My jcv test came back abnormal, should I continue my tysabri my neuro says stop until he gets all the test back , I think my test came back abnormal due to me not having my thyroid medicine for a week , what do you all think
@A MyMSTeam Member I have both of those diagnoses as well, but not on meds for Hashitomotos (they said I don't need it) and JC+ titer is very high as well.
I am JC positive. Listen to your neuro. That possible side effect is nothing to play around with if you are JC positive! I also have Hashimoto's and I am on synthroid too. Hashimoto's is also an autoimmune disease. My immune system is weakened even moreso b/c of both MS AND Hashimoto's. I am thinking that is probably why I am JC positive. I WISH I could take Tysabri, but I just do not want to take a chance of having brain inflammation and death., I am NOT a doctor, but I doubt being off your thyroid medicine would have an effect on the JC test. I wish you the best!
My sister (she does not have MS) has Hashimoto too, but does not need synthroid yet. I had Hashimoto's for a while, but only the past 3 years I needed synthroid b/c it is only NOW that my thyroid is NOT working properly., I get blood work every 3 months and every 6 months my synthroid is always increased b/c my hypothyroidism (from Hashimoto's) keeps getting worse. Sometimes I just feel like I am one big autoimmune disease! ;)
how high are the titers?
