Members shared enthusiastic recommendations about vitamins that may help manage MS symptoms, with Vitamin D and B12 emerging as the most commonly suggested supplements for supporting neurological health, reducing fatigue, and addressing deficiencies that can mimic MS symptoms. Several members described their personal supplement routines, including high-dose Vitamin D (ranging from 2,000 to 50,000 IU weekly), B12 (oral or injections), magnesium for muscle cramps and spasticity, biotin for nerve strength, and probiotics for gut health, while emphasizing the importance of consulting doctors and monitoring blood levels to avoid toxicity. A recurring theme was that while supplements are not a cure, many members credit consistent daily vitamin use with reducing pain, improving energy, decreasing muscle spasms, and supporting overall immune function alongside their prescribed MS treatments.

My neurologist suggested b12, Vit D ( 50,000 IU once a week ), a b complex. I had a zero vitamin D level when I was diagnosed. The supplements did help 😊.

I use to take biotin for my hair but it made my thyroid levels off . I still take it just separate from my Synthroid medication πŸ’Š.

The Vit. D3 deficiency is NOT only due to MSer's and an intolerance for heat therefore not being in the sun AS much. But it is a vitamin that is crucial for the neurological symptom.
So if you figure that MS is a disease with damaged brains and spinal cords it's not too surprising that Vitamin D3 would be deficient.

My doctor is the head guy at Vanderbilt MS clinic in Nashville. He prescribes pharmaceutical 50,000 IU D2 for me. But this needs to be monitored with blood testing. You can overdose on vitamin D. And yes, he recommended taking vitamin B12 for energy.

I have a round turn table with all of my vitamins on it. Then I took 7 small plastic cups. I put monday- Sunday on each cup. I fill each cup once a week. This way I am more apt to take my vitamins daily, instead of missing days and even weeks, of taking my vitamins. All vitamins and supplements work much better if you are taking them EVERY day!πŸ₯°
