I going next week for infusions of solu medrol. What should I except? Steroids keep me up... Will this do the same?

Make sure you take some hard candy to suck on. The steroid infusions can give you a metal taste in your mouth... It'll be a weird sensation, you'll have all the energy in the world and it will make you feel better but there will be a nasty crash after it wears off a few days later. You'll be extremely fatigued. Good luck!

I just did a three day course of IV Solu-Medrol last week. The day after finishing I felt great! The day after that I felt like I was going through withdrawls- extremely tired, felt stoned, heavy feeling in chest, barely made it home from work. Everyone can have a different reaction to medications. When I was on oral Prednisone, I had dry mouth and a bitter aftertaste. With the IV drugs, the bitter taste and extreme dry mouth was constant until 3 days after the last day of treatment. I had no appetite, probably bc I couldn't taste anything. A common side effect is the bitter taste in the mouth. I highly recommend you get Gatoraid and nutritional shakes to make sure you get food in you even when you don't think you're hungry. Jolly ranchers also helped with the taste in my mouth. Don't be turned away from the treatment though. This was my first time. I was diagnosed with MS a month ago and then they said I had Optic Neuritis a week ago. Oral Pred did nothing for me. I haven't had this much relief in my head for awhile. The side effects were worth it for me.

I've had solu Medrol infusions several times over the years. They definitely work for me and calm the inflammation but it tends to get worse for a short time before it gets better. And yes it makes it impossible to sleep or eat enough food. Everyone reacts differently though. Good luck! :)
