Does anyone feel their parenting skills are compromise because of MS? Too tired to follow through. Forgetting what rules you set, etc. How do you cope?

I do all the time my son has to remind me a lot to remember stuff and I feel so bad or I'm too tired sometime to do anything and I feel like a worthless mother I tell him I'm sorry I feel like a million times a day but he is so wonderful and the best kid n the whole wide world

YES! And to make matters worse my son has ADHD, so has the attention span of a gnat! I write up the rules and chores, so we are both fully aware, and it lasts about a day. So often I just don't have the energy to argue with him. Even worse, my husband works out of town and is only with us every few weeks for a weekend. Dad is a no BS type so the iron fist comes out when he comes home. I get yelled at for allowing things to happen and not enforcing punishments, son gets yelled at for not doing his responsibilities and taking advantage of me. While I absolutely agree with reaping what i sow, we have also settled in to somewhat of a give and take situation, picking my battles when needed. I also hate that I had all intentions this summer of doing something / going somewhere at least one day during the week, and we have done NOTHING!!

Yes! And NOBODY else gets it. My mom is constantly on my case for not doing enough with my kid and not being a better parent. Mind you, I have been a single parent for years and everything I do is for him and with him. I am also a teacher so I feel terrible coming home at the end of the day having dealt with loads of kids and being too tired to immediately run outside to the park with mine without at least a nap first. I love my child and I do all I can for him, but I remind him that MS sometimes makes mommy tired. It helps him learn understanding, compassion, and patience in my opinion.

Talk to your kids and calmly explain what you're going through. Ask for their help picking up the dishes after supper and taking that extra step to help you get by.
