Does anyone use the fentanyl patch for pain?
Fentanyl patches, good and bad. Your Doc should start you on a low dose. 12.5mg or 25mg when you put a patch on it may take several hours before you reach good pain relief, the patch is good for 3 days and on the last day most people can feel the medication fading. Most people need a breakthrough medication to take as needed. It can make you sedated at first, but once your body adjust to the dose you should be okay. Also depending if your skinny or have some fat tissue the absorption may vary. It's also cost a lot! I know that you have been on different pain medications and have problems with pain. I hope this works for you, make sure you work with your doctor and tell them any problems that you are having. Don't tell a lot of people about the kind of pain medication that you are using Fentanly patches have a high street value, people that abusive medication will often suck on the patches to get a high, but if you use it correctly it can work well in general. Never share information on what medications that you are using to people that live close to you, unless you absolutely trust them!
Working Hospice I have seen friends of the dying patient take the pain medications while visiting! It's just sad how people can be! Keep us updated on how it works for you! Sending you Best wishes and Hugs!
Well patty I'm not do sure obviously first time I've had MS. Have had it for 10 years i know of, have fallen numerous times including breaking my femur (the largest bone in your body that can kill you) painkillers tend to numb my body out for short periods which i need so i can live my life without constant pain. Others on this site take painkillers as well so i guess you have to do what works for you without judgement
Fentanyl, or any of the narcotics, do not work well with nerve pain. Is this for some other kind of pain?
I've used Lidocaine patches on occassion for pain relief. Never wanted Fentanyl though. I review side effects for all medication.
I was on Fentanyl patches for some time and They are very strong. Even though it is an effective pain medication it is also very dangerous. If you forget to remove a patch, it is too easy to overdose. If you decide to use it, please be very careful. It also has many side effects. I would research it further before considering it.
